Rodionova N. V., doctor of Economic sciences, professor at the Management and marketing Department
Vladimir State University named after Alexander and Nikolay Stoletovs, Vladimir

Abstract:
The article is dedicated to the memory of a talented scientist in the field of management Alexey Gastev in honor of his anniversary. An attempt is made to evaluate his work as a harbinger of modern management and identify provisions relevant to its development. Using the historical analogy method, a common problem of the Gastev’s and modern eras is revealed. It is technocracy, which turns a person into an appendage of a machine. Attention is focused on the survival problem for modern man in the conditions of the impending digital technocracy. In search of its solutions, the author turned to the doctrine about the scientific labor organization by A.K. Gastev, who investigated this problem in the conditions of production automation. To solve it, Gastev justified the methodology about mechanical dexterity in the context of the movement culture, aiming not only at the professionalism development, but also at the education of the employee and the activation of his creativity. This methodology helps to protect against machine enslavement. Other provisions from the teachings of Gastev are also presented, which can serve as lessons for modernity.
